- ➤ AAA expects 45.1 million travelers nationwide, including 1.3 million North Carolinians, to hit the roads this Memorial Day weekend, and warns that new Real ID requirements may cause delays at major airports. Local officials advise travelers to prepare their vehicles and leave early on Thursday and Friday + lower gas prices may help cut costs for those taking road trips. WITN

- ➤ Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Stantonsburg Road that closed eastbound lanes from Moye Boulevard to Memorial Drive—westbound lanes remained open as drivers were advised to use alternate routes. WITN

- ➤ Greenville police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Thursday morning at Burger King on 1702 Stantonsburg Road—employees report the suspect entered through the back door, showed a gun and escaped with cash while detectives gather details on his appearance. WITN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Greenville City Council approved a municipal agreement with the North Carolina Department of Transportation to build a safe pedestrian pathway from Eppes Recreation Center to the crossing at Memorial Drive — Third Street with new sidewalks, a 10-foot path, and roadway lighting on wood poles. Most of the funding is provided by the state's Carbon Reduction Program and requires a $66,000 local match, and the project will be completed within the next year. WNCT
- ➤ Pitt County commissioners updated the FY 2025-26 budget after adding about $6 million earlier this month and then voting to add $27,000—funding the farmers market. The Daily Reflector
