  • Pitt County School students raised over $6,000 in spare change for JOY Community Center & Soup Kitchen after joining the Be The Change initiative led by Tom Quigley, supporting local community services in Greenville.  WITN

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Cracker Barrel on SW Greenville Blvd. is temporarily closed after a small kitchen fire occurred this morning (officials expect a health inspector to review conditions today).  WITN

  • Pitt County Economic Development and a Martin County farm family were named among six winners of the NC Clean Energy Champion Awards, honoring their support for the clean energy industry.  The Daily Reflector

  • Local officials released new details on a street safety upgrade in downtown Greenville, outlining improvements to crosswalks and sidewalks aimed at protecting pedestrians (construction is set to begin next month pending final approvals).  WITN
  • Local law enforcement in Greenville is joining the Holiday Booze It and Lose It campaign by boosting sobriety checkpoints until Jan. 4 — following a record of 361 alcohol-related crash deaths last year.  WITN

HEALTH NEWS

  • ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville is proposing to add five new operating rooms and 96 beds to ease current capacity issues; a public hearing was held today and if approved, the expansions will be finished by October 2029.  WITN
  • ECU Health will soon install new operating rooms at its Greenville hospital to improve patient care — upgrades are expected to begin early next week.  WITN

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Baileigh Bockover shares her holiday mini pavlova recipe with crisp meringue (soft center) topped with whipped cream and fruit to brighten dessert tables. The recipe is featured on WITN Home for the Holidays to help locals add a festive touch this season.  WITN
