After 17 years in the Marine Corps, ECU senior Jesse Rodriguez now assists students with hidden disabilities at West Carteret High School in Morehead City through the Occupational Course of Study program.

The city is investing $1.9 million to buy over 100 acres north of the Tar River for a planned sports complex.

City officials say the project will enhance local recreational options.

Dr. Belinda Lashea, a midwife from the North Carolina mountains, earned her doctorate at ECU and opened a private homebirth practice in Wilmington as she blends traditional care (learned as an apprentice) with modern nursing to support local mothers.
