  • Jacob Coman of Northside High School in Jacksonville was named Teacher of the Week for teaching economics, personal finance, and AVID classes—he also coaches multiple sports teams and has been with the school for two years after graduating from East Carolina University.  WITN
  • ECU hosted the Making Cent$ of Life After College event on Nov. 18 at the Main Campus Student Center where students, including Greenville sophomore Hannah Wilson, practiced budgeting by simulating real-life costs such as emergency room visits and flat tire repairs. The Financial Wellness Hub provided one-on-one coaching and group lessons—helping students learn to manage everyday expenses with confidence.  East Carolina University

  • A Greenville man won nearly $350,000 last week—his sister had suggested he buy a $1 Cash 5 ticket that paid off.  The Daily Reflector
  • Greenville man Ralph Mendenhall Jr. won a $347,251 Cash 5 prize today after buying a Quick Pick ticket at Sheetz on Portertown Road — his sister had told him to buy one. He will share his winnings with his sister and daughters, pay off his mortgage and invest the rest, and he was one of three winners who split a $1,041,753 jackpot, keeping $249,153 after taxes.  WITN
