EDUCATION NEWS

  • East Carolina University officials detailed plans to build a new chancellor’s home near the old Dail House campus property—while the Board of Trustees approved a 3% tuition increase this week.  The Daily Reflector

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Pitt County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Monday aimed at considering financial incentives for an economic development project — the project is expected to invest $40 million.  The Daily Reflector
  • A federal bill reopened the government this week but contains a provision that may ban over 95 percent of hemp products with THC by next November—local hemp shops and customers say the change will affect access to products used for health needs.  WITN
  • Congressman Greg Murphy visited the Pitt County food bank on November 14 after the government shutdown. He met with bank officials to discuss plans to support local families with food assistance — his visit underlines his commitment to community aid.  WITN

HEALTH NEWS

  • ECU’s School of Dental Medicine in Greenville welcomed veterans this week — displaying American flags at every station and a 'Thank you, veterans' banner as patients received dental care to honor their service.  The Daily Reflector

SPORTS NEWS

  • Round 2 playoff football games featured teams with scores from low to high, such as D.H. Conley earning 44 over Southern Durham’s 32. The results will decide which teams advance in the coming weeks—some matches were close while others were not—and they set up the next round of contests.  WITN
  • UNCW men’s basketball will have six games aired on WITN 7.2 this season. The games are scheduled for Nov. 18 against East Carolina at 7 p.m., Nov. 28 against Navy at 3 p.m., Dec. 3 against Marshall at 7 p.m., Jan. 17 against Campbell at 7 p.m., Feb. 12 against Elon at 7 p.m., and Feb. 26 against North Carolina A&T, and will also air on Optimum Cable channel 138 and Spectrum channel 1215 — a move to reach more local fans.  WITN
