More than 14,000 households in Pitt County risk delayed food benefits if the government shutdown continues.

Community leaders met at First Christian Church today and plan to start food outreach on November 3rd — using an initial $12,000 budget — to help those in need.

Hope Middle School has renovated its media center with nearly $60,000 from the West Memorial Fund, Pitt County Schools announced — the grant provided funds for new technology and resources.
