BUSINESS NEWS

  • A Greenville resident, Alex Naoum, has camped outside Camping World since April after the company delayed repairs to his RV due to a parts mix-up affecting his camper’s awning, and the service manager said his vehicle will be ready for pickup on Thursday with original parts—Naoum said he will seek repairs from another dealer if the issue is not promptly resolved.  WITN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Golden LEAF Foundation has awarded ECU $1 million to build a new Center for Medical Education for the Brody School of Medicine — the center will use simulation technology, anatomy labs and a 360-degree learning studio to boost student capacity and is expected to complete in 2027.  WITN

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Low humidity, breezy weather and no rain have made today one of Greenville’s driest stretches recently—fire danger is high and outdoor burning is not recommended until Friday.  WITN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tens of thousands of Eastern Carolina families using SNAP may not receive food assistance in November because the federal government shutdown continues, putting nearly 35,000 households in Pitt, Onslow and Craven at risk. Local officials are working with community partners to set up alternative plans if the shutdown persists — benefits could resume if the shutdown ends soon.  WITN

HEALTH NEWS

  • A local program is helping domestic violence victims—its staff offers shelter and counseling to help survivors—and works with local groups to provide further support.  WITN
  • A new behavioral health center will open next week in Greenville to help people facing mental health and substance use challenges. Officials say the center is a key transitional tool in the state’s plan to break harmful cycles and support recovery.  The Daily Reflector

  • Greenville basketball fans can watch free Charlotte Hornets games on WITN and WITN 7.2 as Gray Media partners with the Hornets to simulcast several matches. Tuning in today at 7pm for the game against the Brooklyn Nets—upcoming broadcasts include Dec 18 versus the Atlanta Hawks and Dec 26 versus the Orlando Magic on the main channel.  WITN
