- ➤ Halloweentown Market will offer indoor trick-or-treating, a pumpkin carving contest, breakfast, and shopping from over 30 local vendors at Leroy James Farmers Market on Saturday, November 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.—all activities will take place indoors to welcome families rain or shine. - ➤ Joseph’s Provisions Food Pantry received barely any supplies last Saturday—Director Theresa Purnell said rising food costs and a federal supply shutdown left shelves nearly empty and about a hundred people waiting for help; the pantry will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and urges the community to donate food. This shortage puts local families at risk of missing meals if donations do not increase soon. WITN

- ➤ Belvoir Elementary School in Greenville celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with events that honor Hispanic traditions and recognize cultural contributions — school officials say the celebration enriches student learning. WITN
- ➤ Melissa Brown, a math teacher at Southside High School, is honored as Teacher of the Week after being nominated by community members and celebrating 14 years of teaching that began on the San Carlos Apache Reservation—she also advises the Math Club and serves on a school improvement team to help students succeed. - ➤ City of Greenville said that the last closed intersection in the BUILD project on Fifth Street will reopen soon—celebration plans will follow. Officials said the project will improve traffic and safety for all residents. The Daily Reflector
- ➤ On White Cane Day yesterday, organizers in Greenville held events to explain a new traffic law that aims to improve pedestrian safety—an effort that helped residents understand updated local road rules. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Integrated Family Services will host a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. Monday at its new behavioral health urgent care facility on Stantonsburg Road, where guided tours run every 30 minutes from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The facility, which will offer 24-hour care for 4-year-olds and up during mental health crises, is set to open on October 27.
