  • BYU held a tailgate called 'Party With a Purpose' on Saturday to collect food donations for college students by partnering with Greenville's Purple Pantry — a gesture that also featured a JustServe outreach to support local nonprofits.  WITN

  • Accomplished violinist Amy Schwartz Moretti will return to perform at Greenville’s 26th chamber musical festival as part of her homecoming season. She has served as guest concertmaster for symphony orchestras in Atlanta, Houston — Pittsburgh.  The Daily Reflector

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A family with a long line of dentists has made a donation that will boost patient care and student training at East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine — the gift is set to fund new programs that improve clinical services and education.   • Greenville Utilities Commission works to hire a more diverse team — it faces a shortage of trained minority and women candidates in the utilities field.  The Daily Reflector

  • ECU Football lost to BYU 34-13 in front of a packed crowd at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium+the Pirates struggled in the first half when Katin Houser threw two interceptions+they now stand 2-2 and will host Army next Thursday.  WITN
  • ECU will host BYU in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium tonight with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. and fans can watch the game live on ESPN+ while ECU looks to improve its record after a loss to NC State on August 28.  WITN
  • The D.H. Conley Vikings defeated the Ayden-Grifton Chargers 42—14 last Friday in a high school football game that aired on WITN 7.2 MyTV.  WITN
