EDUCATION NEWS

  • ECU Harriot College named Dr. Nathan Richards as its 26th distinguished professor during its annual convocation on Aug. 22. He is honored for his teaching and research in maritime studies—an achievement marking the college's highest faculty recognition.  East Carolina University
  • The Department of Natural and Cultural Resources delivered school supplies to Ayden Elementary as part of Governor Josh Stein’s supply drive on Wednesday. Teacher Margaret Stallings said the donation eased financial burdens for teachers who often cover classroom costs — ensuring students had what they needed.  WITN

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Toyin Babatunde, a nutrition professor at ECU, will travel to Banjul in January on a Fulbright scholarship to lead a six-month public health project developing nutrition education programs in The Gambia—she aims to fight chronic disease and food insecurity. She will teach and research local methods to improve nutrition for women and children under five—drawing on her international clinical and academic experience.  East Carolina University
