- ➤ Greenville held a groundbreaking ceremony this morning at 9 a.m. at 909 Cherry Street to launch its 50-in-10 Affordable Housing Initiative, which will create 50 new affordable homes in West Greenville over the next ten years. Students from Pitt Community College’s CIT Division will build the homes on campus before moving them to city parcels—helping develop workforce skills and community support. WITN
- ➤ Riley’s Army will host several events in September to support local children with cancer and their families—Gold Bow sales at local shops, a Hearts of Gold Gala on September 19 at The Cotton Barn, and a coffee donation event at Coopers Cup on September 13. The events will aid families by helping to cover costs such as food and gas during long hospital visits. WITN

- ➤ ECU Health Behavioral Health Hospital — a new 144 bed facility — will open on Sept. 24 in Greenville to increase access to mental health care. The Daily Reflector
- ➤ Pitt County is offering free open gym access at Alice F. Keene District Park and Pitt County Office Park to help residents stay active and play basketball. Programs run on weekdays in the morning and afternoon to promote wellness. Pitt County
- ➤ ECU Behavioral Health held a ribbon cutting ceremony today to open its new facility for mental health services in Greenville—local officials said the center will improve access to care for residents. WITN
