COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Saturday, dozens gathered at the intersection of Evans and 10th street for the No Haters protest organized by the 50501 Greenville movement. Protesters held signs denouncing fascism and racism+ and expressed concerns over local due process and immigration enforcement measures.  WITN

CRIME NEWS

  • A grassroots effort met on Thursday — the group discussed ways to work with youth and parents to prevent gun violence in Greenville. The committee plans to use these ideas to reduce shootings in the future.  The Daily Reflector

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Pitt County Schools saw a boost in enrollment on Thursday as children and teens returned after a two-month summer break—indicating a summer growth spurt—and many families planned to enroll their kids for the new school year.  The Daily Reflector

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Construction on the GUC community solar project is nearing completion, and non-residential customers can now enroll after only 20 percent of the panels were taken by residential customers—officials expect more enrollments soon.  The Daily Reflector
