- ➤ The 40th Winterville Watermelon Festival is kicking off today in Winterville with live music, food, and family activities—local organizers say the event continues a long-held community tradition. WITN

- ➤ Greenville native Noelia Velazquez, a High Point University sophomore, was crowned Miss Teen All American on August 2 during the national pageant in Charleston — where she competed in wardrobe events and a mental health Q&A. She said the win is meaningful and plans to use her platform to serve the community and inspire young women through her Girl Strong by Noe series. WITN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ County officials and lawmakers met in Greenville on Friday at the annual conference of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners. The meeting included Congressman Don Davis, Congressman Greg Murphy, Representatives Tim Reeder and Gloristine Brown, and special guest Governor Josh Stein (who joined panels on advocacy and policy strategies).
