  • Saving Graces 4 Felines is partnering with WITN to find forever homes for cats in Greenville; Butter Bean, a friendly kitten rescued from behind a local store, is one of six kittens available for adoption. She is spayed, neutered, tested for feline leukemia and FIV, vaccinated, treated for worms and fleas, and micro-chipped (the adoption fee is $95 in cash with vet references required).  WITN

CRIME NEWS

  • A Greenville man pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and robbery in connection with a 2022 killing—where the victim was struck with a baseball bat—after three days of evidence hearings.  The Daily Reflector

CULTURE NEWS

  • East Carolina University archaeologists discovered several shipwreck sites at Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson State Historic Site in Brunswick County, including remains that may be from a Spanish privateer that exploded in September 1748—an event during an attack on the port. The discovery will help researchers learn more about the early colonial port town in the area.  Public Radio East

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sen. Ted Budd and other lawmakers asked the Labor Department to roll back new H-2A visa regulations that raised costs and made it harder for farmers to enroll in the program—further complications contributed to a worker shortage and higher food costs.  Public Radio East
