- ➤ A Greenville man, 28-year-old Jeffrey Rouse Jr., was arrested in Jacksonville and charged with elder exploitation involving a family member, 27 counts of felony identity theft, and attempted property acquisition by false pretense—further charges are expected as the investigation continues. WITN
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ ECU economics professor Nick Rupp said that tariffs may keep inflation above the Fed's target as the Commerce Department reported prices in June rose to 2.6% from 2.4% in May. He added that interest rates will likely remain unchanged—keeping the pressure on until inflation drops closer to 2%. WITN

- ➤ Dylan Ramirez-Zarate, an ECU construction management major, finished a three-month internship renovating New York City's Apollo Theater and Jewish Museum—projects he said marked a dream achievement after many rejections; he credited his family and Consigli Construction and urged other students to keep pushing through setbacks.
