- ➤ Fire officials investigated a Pitt County home at 1661 Tull Road south of Greenville after a fire broke out at 10:30 p.m. Thursday with no one home—crews later returned to assess the damage while the house was not destroyed and the cause remains under investigation amid nearby lightning storms. - ➤ A vehicle ran off the road and struck a utility pole on 15th Street in Washington on Aug 1, and passengers Nevaeh Little and Lori Little were taken to ECU Health in Greenville and ECU Health Beaufort+ authorities are investigating the cause. WNCT

- ➤ Two employees at the Red Oak Grill and Grocery were arrested yesterday for embezzling cash and lottery tickets—Nicole Perkins posted a $15,000 bond while Alisha Taylor remains in jail under her $15,000 bond. WITN

- ➤ Dr. Hal Holloman has spent 22 years at ECU’s College of Education, where he leads the Pirate Leadership Academy to prepare future school leaders (he has secured nearly $19 million in grant funding).
