ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An ambulance and a Jeep hit each other on Tuesday at the intersection of Arlington Boulevard and Stantonsburg Road — police said the ambulance did not clear the intersection and its driver was given a ticket while the Jeep driver was taken to the hospital.  WNCT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • GUC confirmed that power was restored to Greenville’s northside after an outage on July 30 — local technicians fixed the issue and residents now have service again.  WITN
  • An ECU geologist spoke on the large pothole in Greenville and explained that the road damage may signal deeper ground issues. Local officials are expected to review his analysis — with repair plans to follow if needed.  WITN
  • North Carolina Attorney General Jeff Jackson visited Pollocksville on July 29 to highlight the impact of FEMA canceling over $200 million in storm resiliency funding—of which Pollocksville was set to receive $1.1 million—and he has sued the federal government for overstepping its authority. Local mayors said funds already in motion to repair 2018 Hurricane Florence damage and prevent future flooding were abruptly pulled, leaving communities with lost investments.  Public Radio East
  • GUC spokesman Steve Hawley said nearly 2,000 northside customers lost power just before noon on July 30 when a substation on Mumford Road went down — crews restored power about 45 minutes later as they began investigating the cause.  WITN
