- ➤ On Monday morning, deputies responded to a wrecked vehicle at the end of National Avenue near Idlewild Drive outside Greenville & found a 37-year-old man dead from severe injuries, with the sheriff’s report listing suicide by firearm while the investigation continues. WITN
- ➤ Authorities arrested two men in West Greenville in connection with a murder case—official details remain sparse. WITN
- ➤ More than a dozen police vehicles converged on the Burger King on East 10th Street today after a dispute in its parking lot led to a shooting—one man was injured and taken to ECU Health Medical Center—while police search for the suspect. WITN
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ ECU’s College of Nursing earned its 17th straight Center of Excellence recognition from the National League of Nursing based on its enrollment of over 1,400 students and unique programs, including North Carolina’s only nurse midwifery program. Representatives will formally receive the honor on September 19 at the NLN Education Summit in Orlando (this award follows rigorous accreditation assessments and new funding for an accelerated BSN program).
