  • Wawa will open its third Greenville store on July 23 with a grand opening event that offers free t-shirts for the first 100 customers and free any-size hot coffee — a Hoagiefest parade will celebrate the launch at 1300 Parkside Drive. The schedule includes a doors countdown at 7:45 a.m.—a ribbon cutting and Hoagies for Heroes competition will follow at 8:30 a.m.  WNCT

ECONOMY NEWS

  • ECU and a coalition of institutions proposed a 42-county agtech corridor to link small farms with research and technology, according to an RTI report published July 16 — which outlines five key opportunities to boost market access and workforce skills. CROPS partners will soon share the findings and begin beta tests of new extension programs — efforts aimed at helping farmers adopt emerging technologies.  East Carolina University

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Pitt County will broadcast its Board of County Commissioners meetings live at the Eugene James Auditorium on the first and third Mondays at 6:00 p.m.—residents may also watch on PittTV Channel 13 or online at YouTube. The Planning Board will meet on the third Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.—its sessions will be streamed live and later rebroadcast.  Pitt County
  • Greenville Fire/Rescue Chief Brock Davenport will retire on August 29; he began working with the department in 1999—serving in every division and was named chief in October 2023.  WITN
