- ➤ City officials will hold a ribbon cutting for a new parks and recreation center in Greenville — the facility will offer updated spaces for sports and community programs. WITN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pitt County Parks and Rec will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony next week for two new community centers built with $10-million American Rescue Plan funds + the first is at Alice F. Keene District Park and County Home Complex while the second is at 204 Government Circle in Greenville. Both centers will open to the public on August 11 + county leaders say the new spaces will host many programs for local residents. WITN
- ➤ A stormwater project is underway at Evans and Ninth Streets to fix flooding, and crews finished locating work on Monday and Tuesday that led to temporary lane adjustments. Construction will begin later this week — the project was planned months ago to direct stormwater properly. WNCT
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Residents in Pitt County are invited by Pitt County Environmental Health to join a tick study led by North Carolina State University—free kits let participants submit ticks removed from themselves and complete a short survey. Free tick kits will be available for pickup at the Development Services building at 1717 West 5th Street and at Leroy James Farmers Market on Tuesdays—no personal information will be shared. WNCT
