- ➤ Leonard Williams, Jr., a 36-year-old Crips Gang member from Greenville, pleaded guilty in February to possession with intent to distribute cocaine and to possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug activity, and controlled buys and a Ward Street raid in August uncovered drugs and a handgun that led to his six-year federal sentence. - ➤ Four ECU engineering students developed a new protective attachment for prosthetic feet to help amputees in the Ivory Coast and will take the prototypes on a July mission trip with nonprofit Lev Legacy in Kinston. The team tested 10 design ideas to balance cost against durability—refining the product for harsh, red clay terrain. East Carolina University
- ➤ East Carolina University and Pitt Community College signed a bilateral agreement that guarantees Pitt graduates with an AAS in one of 14 technology programs and at least a 2.0 GPA admission into ECU’s BSIT program—allowing them to transfer up to 75 credit hours for faster degree completion and career advancement. The program offers seven concentrations, with five available online, and builds on ECU’s nationally recognized transfer model. East Carolina University

- ➤ Pitt County announced that design firms can submit proposals for a new park at Pitt County Office Park until July 1, and proposals will be reviewed on July 8 with final scope and fee proposals due on July 16+ the project has a planned budget of 1 million dollars and requires detailed specifications for trails, playgrounds, and park amenities.
