  • A judge will hear an appeal today at 10 a.m. at the Pitt County Courthouse from the Southern Coalition for Social Justice on behalf of the Brookhaven Community Association against plans to build a RaceWay gas station on Memorial Drive near Wellcome Middle School and homes (1,000 ft away) as the groups say the project may lower property values and cause safety hazards (from more traffic and runoff).  WITN
  • Interfaith Clergy gathered at ECU Health on Monday for a prayer service to support families facing potential SNAP and Medicaid cuts — the Senate Finance Committee released the Big Beautiful Bill on June 16 that may reduce benefits for over 1.4 million residents.  WNCT
