- ➤ Three individuals turned themselves in this week after a 50000 lb excavator was stolen from a construction site outside Ayden on April 21st and later found in Greensboro — Pitt County deputies charged Broderick Moore, Christine Cox, and Ron Mazon with felony larceny, obtaining property by false pretenses, and conspiracy while setting bonds of $50,000 for Moore and Cox and $5,000 for Mazon. - ➤ Police arrested 30-year-old Tiyez Dudley on June 13 after a shooting left a 32-year-old man seriously injured, and the victim was flown to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville — Dudley now faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. WITN

- ➤ ECU Health Medical Center celebrated its 10th Project SEARCH graduating class — six students earned certificates after completing hands-on training in the hospital, which will help them in future work. - ➤ Senate Bill 50 (Freedom to Carry NC) passed in the House with a vote of 59 to 48 after passing in the Senate with a vote of 26 to 18; the bill lets U.S. citizens aged 18 and older carry concealed guns without permits, classes, or background checks and will be sent to Governor Stein for his signature. - ➤ Greenville City Council approved a $185.3 million operating budget to hire more public safety staff, launch a new affordable housing program and invest in community projects—this plan will guide city spending this fiscal year.
