- ➤ Mission BBQ is celebrating Armed Forces Week by offering a free barbecue sandwich each day to a different military branch and is hosting an all-branches lunch (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) with the National Anthem at noon on Saturday at its Greenville location. WITN
- ➤ Local Council on Aging Executive Director Rich Zeck & several home-delivered meals volunteers received the Governor’s Medallion Award from Governor Josh Stein on Monday in Raleigh. The award honors volunteer service that supports over 400 daily meals for seniors with the help of 250 dedicated volunteers. WITN

- ➤ Greenville shoppers feel the squeeze as inflation reached 3.8% and grocery prices rose 0.7% from March to April, pressuring family budgets. Many residents now buy in bulk & opt for healthier options while hoping prices will drop soon. WITN

- ➤ A 17-year-old student in Greenville will earn an associate degree after finishing required college courses. Local officials + school counselors praise the achievement as a sign of growing academic opportunities for youth in our community. WITN

- ➤ The daughter of a fallen officer will join the Greenville Police Department to honor her father's legacy. She plans to serve the community and continue his example in law enforcement. WITN
- ➤ Hillco Ltd, River Neuse Group LLC, and Britthaven Inc. applied to transfer 38 nursing home beds to Ayden Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center from local facilities. The $7.3M project will complete in October 2028, with a public hearing at 11 a.m. on June 19 in Greenville. WITN

- ➤ Liberty Healthcare Properties of Pitt County LLC has proposed a new 76-bed nursing home named Liberty Commons of Pitt County on an empty field at 2340 East Fire Tower Road in Greenville; beds will be transferred from three centers. A public hearing will be held on June 18 at 10 a.m. at the Eugene James Auditorium in the Pitt County Administrative Office Building. WITN
- ➤ Blue Cross and Blue Shield NC Foundation invested $1.5 million in ECU’s Center for Telepsychiatry today in Greenville, and its funds will support a statewide telepsychiatric program offering on-campus mental health services to UNC Pembroke students later this year. WITN

- ➤ High school baseball and softball teams played in 3rd round playoffs on May 12; baseball scores were South Central edging Heritage 7–6, J.H.
