  • A local nonprofit is accepting unwanted clothes and shoes as spring cleaning donations to help children in foster care. Operating from the basement of First Presbyterian Church on Elm Street, Foster Closet has supported kids for seven years and aids struggling foster families.  WITN
  • Saving Graces 4 Felines is partnering with WITN to find a forever home for Gretchen—a sweet cat who has been tested, vaccinated and micro-chipped—with adoption available for $95 and a good vet reference.  WITN
  • Interfaith clergy hosted a child abuse prevention event at First Christian Church last Thursday, offering education and foster care resources to local families (the event's theme, 'You are not alone,' highlighted that support is always available).  WITN

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A burnt HVAC belt triggered an evacuation at Pitt-Greenville Airport on Thursday, Apr. 23. Emergency crews quickly returned the site to normal and reported no injuries.  WITN

  • A prolonged drought is straining Greenville lawn care businesses by causing water shortages and raising operating costs. Service providers face lower demand and hope upcoming rain will ease financial challenges (local reports).  WITN

  • The ECU Alumni Association (ECUAA) honored 40 standout alumni at the 40 Under Forty awards held Saturday at the Main Campus Student Center. The event featured networking, a service project, and recognition of leaders who contributed to positive community change.  East Carolina University
