ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Multiple fire departments battled a fire that damaged a large garage and a barn on Askew Road in the Bell Arthur community Tuesday, Apr. 21 at 2:15 p.m.; officials reported no injuries.  WITN

  • G3ektacular 2026 will bring comic and toy fun to the Greenville Convention Center, offering local fans a lively pop culture gathering.  WITN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • ECU professor Karen Vail-Smith received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine at her retirement celebration on Apr.21, recognizing her 40-year legacy. Nominated by colleagues, she expressed surprise and gratitude for this prestigious honor.  East Carolina University

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • NC-43 at the US-264 Bypass closed Monday at 8:00 a.m. for a roundabout construction project and will remain shut for about two months. Crews are installing roundabouts on all ramps, so drivers should follow detour routes via MacGregor Downs Road (or B’s Barbecue Road) to avoid delays.  WITN

  • ECU Health's Cancer Care treatment center in Greenville was named Health System Partner of the Year in 2025 by the American Cancer Society, recognizing its support for cancer patients and regular volunteer efforts at ACS Hope Lodge.  WITN
  • ECU Health Medical Center Surgical Intensive Care Unit earned a silver-level Beacon Award for Excellence in 2025 from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. The national honor recognized the unit's high standards in patient care.  The Daily Reflector
