- ➤ ECU professor Karen Vail-Smith received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine at her retirement celebration on Apr.21, recognizing her 40-year legacy. Nominated by colleagues, she expressed surprise and gratitude for this prestigious honor. East Carolina University
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ NC-43 at the US-264 Bypass closed Monday at 8:00 a.m. for a roundabout construction project and will remain shut for about two months. Crews are installing roundabouts on all ramps, so drivers should follow detour routes via MacGregor Downs Road (or B’s Barbecue Road) to avoid delays. WITN
