CULTURE NEWS

  • Beloved ballet teacher in Greenville retired today after nearly 50 years of teaching, marking the end of a distinguished career in local ballet that enriched the community’s arts scene.  The Daily Reflector

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, the National Forest Service said Stage 1 fire restrictions are in effect on all four national forests in North Carolina (including Croatan) due to dry, windy conditions. Open burning and campfires outside developed recreation sites are banned to lower wildfire risk.  WITN

HEALTH NEWS

  • ECU Health hosted 'Quack Back at Cancer' Saturday morning to raise awareness about cancer prevention. The one-mile walk along Lake Laupus at the ECU Health Sciences campus offered free screenings (including skin checks and colorectal kits) and educational resource stations.  WITN

SPORTS NEWS

  • ECU held its Annual Purple-Gold game at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium Saturday afternoon, where new quarterbacks led the offense on touchdown drives during the Pigskin Pig-Out festivities; the scrimmage ended 19-16 and ECU will begin summer conditioning ahead of fall camp.  WITN
