  • 5th Street Hardware hosted a fundraiser Saturday with live music, a dunk tank and a silent auction — 10% of food sales and additional funds went to help relief efforts in Western North Carolina after Hurricane Helene.  WNCT

CRIME NEWS

  • Shots fired into a home off Frog Level Road injured two sleeping boys—aged 7 and 12—today, according to the Greenville Police Department.  The Daily Reflector
  • Greenville police have cited over 300 people in a year for driving with exhaust systems that make excessive or unusual noise or smoke — the interim chief said the violation has led to a crackdown on illegal mufflers.  The Daily Reflector
  • Faith Pellini, a former ECU student who went viral on TikTok for saying she confronted a man at an off-campus party, was arrested twice by campus police for trespassing and said she had to drop out of classes because going to class in handcuffs was impossible—she now plans to take legal action.  WNCT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local high schools will soon install vape detectors that are programmed to sense THC—school officials said the new devices will help monitor vaping on campus.  The Daily Reflector

  • The City Council voted to give $715,000 to a local developer to build homes for seniors behind the Food Lion shopping center on Turnbury Drive — a move expected to create more living options. The project will offer more home choices for older residents.  The Daily Reflector
  • Pitt-Greenville Airport held an FAA-mandated emergency disaster drill on Saturday, Apr. 12th to practice responses to a simulated airplane crash using a bus and volunteer victims. The drill involved Greenville Fire/Rescue, the police, county emergency management, the sheriff’s office and ECU Health — all practicing coordinated response measures.  WNCT
