ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Crews responded to a fire at a vacant building on East 10th Street Sunday around 12:45 p.m.—roads between Parkside Drive and Hardee Road were closed while the fire was brought under control, and fire officials are investigating the cause. WNCT
- ➤ Officials in Pitt County said a house fire was contained — an investigation is underway to determine its cause. WITN
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Oakwood School in Greenville held its annual Market Day on April 4, 2024 where over 80 middle school students ran start-up businesses selling homemade makeup, crafts and ethnic snacks— all proceeds went to charity. The Chamber of Commerce gave the students a ribbon cutting and a school grant supported the event— helping them learn real business skills. WNCT
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Warmer, wetter weather has boosted bug activity in Greenville, and experts at Rocket Pest Control said pests including stinging insects have been drawn to areas with standing water and dirty surfaces. They recommended using air conditioning and a de-humidifier to help reduce the pests. WNCT

- ➤ Maintenance crews with the North Carolina Department of Transportation will close Davenport Farm Road next week for two days to replace a storm pipe drain for an upcoming resurfacing project; a detour via NC 11/903, Fourlines Road, and Reedy Branch Road will be in place and the road will reopen by 5 p.m. — weather permitting —.
