- ➤ Pepsi’s roots trace back to 1893 when New Bern pharmacist Caleb Bradham created a drink that evolved into a global brand, and in 1935 a Greenville family revived regional bottling to honor that legacy. The Birthplace of Pepsi store, open daily (except Wednesday), preserves this historic heritage in the area. WITN
- ➤ Local residents celebrated Good Friday on Apr. 3 by gathering for community services and quiet reflection at local churches. Neighbors honored longstanding traditions and felt united in the spirit of the holiday. WITN
- ➤ In Greenville, locals carried crosses in a Good Friday procession held yesterday near downtown to honor the solemn holiday. The community event reflected a long-established tradition celebrated by residents. WITN
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ ECU Health Maynard Children's Hospital benefited from Children's Miracle Network's 29th annual Music for Miracles Radiothon, which raised $121,890 including a $20,000 match from Craig Goess + Greenville Toyota. The event, started in 1998, has raised $4.1 million overall to secure life-saving equipment and enhance facilities. WITN

- ➤ East Carolina rallied with a five-run comeback to beat Charlotte 12-9 tonight at Clark-LeClair Stadium in Greenville. The Pirates hit key home runs in the seventh and added a two-run blast in the eighth to clinch the weekend series. WITN
- ➤ Greenville baseball fans will watch 10 free Washington Nationals games on WITN and WITN 7.2 this season. The broadcasts (a partnership by Gray Media and the Nationals) begin Friday, May 15 at 6:45 p.m. WITN
