  • Joy Soup Kitchen and Community Center in Greenville will soon add dental exams to its free services. ECU Orthodontist Dennis Ross donated a dentist chair and screenings will begin Monday—later, patients will be scheduled at the ECU dental clinic—ensuring more accessible dental care.  WITN
  • ECU alumni are aiding recovery efforts in western North Carolina after Hurricane Helene damaged roads and homes six months ago. Their companies are repairing roads such as a five-mile stretch on N.C. 80 near Marion—pledging to remain until the work is complete.  East Carolina University

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On March 24th, Pitt County Emergency Management and fire chiefs from Black Jack, Grimesland, Red Oak and Simpson districts received fire insurance rating results from OSFM that will help set property insurance premiums — the survey did not focus on fire safety, giving Black Jack a Protection Class 4/9E, Grimesland 5/9E, Red Oak 3/9E and Simpson 4.  Pitt County
  • Pitt Greenville Airport will host a preparedness drill on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. as the Federal Aviation Administration requires a mass casualty exercise every three years, and local emergency responders will practice their response to improve safety measures—helping refine emergency procedures for future incidents.  Public Radio East

  • Allergists in Greenville say that rising temperatures and early blooming plants have led to a longer pollen season, causing more residents to experience sneezing and watery eyes.
