CRIME NEWS

  • Police identified two teens killed last week in a targeted shooting at an apartment complex near the 3000 block of Caldwell Court and 307 Kristin Drive, with victims Tiheen Bell (18) from Greenville and Jamere Revelle (19) from Winterville, and while potential suspects have been identified, no charges have been filed.  WITN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Elizabeth Bennett returned to full-time teaching at PS Jones Middle School (teaching 6th and 7th grade Social Studies) after retiring during the COVID-19 pandemic and working as a substitute teacher. She has spent 28 years in Beaufort County teaching at Snowden Elementary, Eastern Elementary, and John Cotten Tayloe Elementary (with broad experience across multiple grade levels).  WITN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Pitt-Greenville Airport will conduct its FAA-required full-scale emergency exercise on March 29 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.—multiple local agencies will simulate a plane crash with volunteers acting as injured passengers, and the public is advised not to call 911.  Pitt County
  • City staff presented a budget recommendation that includes several spending increases while keeping the property tax rate unchanged at 39.54 cents — the City Council is reviewing the proposal.  The Daily Reflector
