  • North Carolina veterans will receive help transitioning to civilian life next week at an event hosted by ECU's Arthur Graduate School — local partners will offer support and resources as the program prepares veterans for success.  The Daily Reflector

  • Memorial Drive near Pitt-Greenville Airport is closed—emergency responders are investigating a private plane crash reported in the area.  The Daily Reflector

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Thirty-nine teachers in Pitt County Schools have been nominated for the system’s top teaching award—four finalists will learn the winner on March 19th.  The Daily Reflector
  • ECU School of Communication held an alumni career panel on March 6 where former students shared advice on networking, clear communication, and handling tough moments in their careers. The event was followed by a career fair that let students speak with representatives from about 20 media outlets—offering practical guidance as they prepare for job searches.  East Carolina University

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Greenville City Council voted 4-2 to reject an amendment that would allow 3,200-square-foot flags in commercial areas—keeping the law that requires their removal.  The Daily Reflector

HEALTH NEWS

  • State health officials report that 106 pertussis cases have been recorded so far this year—more than twice the 40 cases in 2024—and urge residents to get the vaccine to help stop its spread.  WITN
