- ➤ Saving Graces 4 Felines in Greenville is seeking a home for Fez, a six-month-old, neutered, microchipped kitten who loves wand toys and couch cuddles. Adopters must pay a $95 fee and provide a vet reference, as he is best with a companion cat. WITN
- ➤ Meteorologist Jim Howard celebrated 25 years at WITN today. He has brightened mornings across Eastern Carolina with his weather reports since Feb. 19, 2001 as colleagues honored his milestone on the morning show. WITN
- ➤ Work on the new family wing at the Greenville Community Shelter neared completion last July and is expected to open next week to support families, with six bedrooms and a common area for kids to study or play (mattresses have yet to arrive). WITN
- ➤ Pollocksville Mayor Jay Bender was honored with the Dogwood Award by A.G. Jackson on Wednesday, Feb. 18 — the recognition highlighted his service to locals. WITN

- ➤ The local museum is set to reopen soon following extensive renovations + officials say new exhibits and event details will be announced shortly. WITN
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ ECU’s Center for IoT Engineering and Innovation is running a smart agriculture project at The Source greenhouse in Wilson that uses the PITON platform + real-time sensor data to help local farmers improve crop conditions and give students hands-on learning. The project is supported by the city and partners to promote sustainable growth in eastern agriculture. East Carolina University
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local farmers are facing extreme drought conditions as dry weather strains water supplies and crops. Agricultural officials plan to assess the situation and may announce restrictions if conditions persist (crop stress noted). WITN
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ ECU is running a virtual four-week study that offers an integrated music therapy + yoga program to help caregivers of people with Parkinson’s disease manage stress. The first round ended last week, and four more rounds will be offered soon. WITN
- ➤ An ENC study (released on Feb. 19) finds new ways to help local caregivers face daily challenges. The research is expected to guide health practices in Greenville. WITN
