EDUCATION NEWS

  • ECU hosted Resumania on Tuesday, Feb. 10 where career professionals gave resume advice to students at ECU, urging them to tailor their applications and avoid common templates to stand out in a tight job market.  WITN
  • East Carolina University hosted a resume workshop on campus today to help local job seekers improve their applications. Attendees received expert tips to polish their resumes for upcoming opportunities.  WITN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Local organizers plan a voter march in Greenville to boost turnout in upcoming elections. The event will take place soon (more details on time and meeting point are expected to be announced).  WITN
  • Local officials announced that the speed limit on 10th St. will be lowered soon to improve safety for drivers and pedestrians. The change is expected to benefit the community while details (such as the exact implementation date) are finalized.  WITN
  • Gov. Josh Stein and DEQ Secretary Reid Wilson announced that the $208 million Energy Saver NC program is now open in every county — offering rebates up to $16,000 for energy upgrades that help lower utility bills and support over 2,000 contractor jobs.  Public Radio East

HEALTH NEWS

  • Pitt County EMS added IV infusion pumps to all ambulances and quick response vehicles beginning Feb. 1 to deliver medications more safely and free up responders to focus on patient care, with training continuing throughout February.  WITN
  • ECU Health unveiled the state’s first pediatric medical transport helicopter yesterday to cut transport times by over half for infants needing urgent care at Maynard Children’s Hospital in Greenville and across 29 counties, and the aircraft featuring an Under the Sea theme will begin service in March.  Public Radio East
  • Winter storms canceled local blood drives, leading hospitals to postpone some surgeries amid a blood shortage. Greenville’s ECU Health used the State Highway Patrol for urgent platelet deliveries (platelets last only five days) while officials urge type O negative donors to visit local donation centers.  Public Radio East
