- ➤ ECU alumni Bonnie and Mich Rollins married on May 17 under Joyner Library’s historic columns and held a small reception at the Chi Omega house, celebrating the campus where their friendship began (a nod to their long connection with ECU). East Carolina University
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ North Carolina students earned a record number of industry credentials last year as Pitt County Schools ranked among the state’s top 10, showing strong progress in education for our community. The Daily Reflector
- ➤ The school board approved open enrollment and lottery options for most Pitt County Schools next year, though crowding means four campuses will not offer these school choice plans. More than 80 percent of the public schools will include the new options. The Daily Reflector
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Whichard Road near Sycamore Church Road is closed today for bridge culvert replacement (reopening Feb. 20) while Black Jack Simpson Road over Bates Branch will close tomorrow and reopen Feb. 27, according to the NC Department of Transportation; drivers are advised to plan alternate routes. WITN
