- ➤ Greenville Community Shelter has been open 24/7 since Sunday night and will continue until Tuesday as freezing temperatures drive 86 homeless residents to seek warmth, food, beds, and hygiene supplies. Donations of towels and washcloths are accepted Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. WITN

- ➤ Noah Brown earned a legacy at ECU as he led Collegiate DECA from 15 to over 50 members + guided team success at the International Career Development Conference; he now serves as chief of staff for an ECU board trustee, building on his transformative college experience. East Carolina University

- ➤ Dr. Fernanda Godfrey (East Carolina Veterinary Service) shared tips today to help keep pets safe from cold weather in Greenville. She advised pet owners to watch for signs of hypothermia and frostbite and to check animals' ears, tail, and toes while ensuring food and water remain unfrozen. WITN
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ ECU wide receiver Yannick Smith and tight end Jayvontay Conner joined the transfer portal on Monday ahead of the Military Bowl on Dec. 27. Both players ranked among the team’s top in receiving yards and touchdown receptions. WITN
- ➤ ECU quarterback Katin Houser opted out of the Military Bowl to enter the transfer portal after two seasons in Greenville; he finished the season with 28 touchdowns + 3,000 passing yards as the Pirates recorded their first eight-win regular season in over a decade. WITN
