  • At the Farmville Central and Greene Central football game last night in Farmville, multiple altercations led officials to clear the stadium to de-escalate the situation—no weapons were mentioned and it is still unclear who was involved.  WITN
  • The North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program announced its annual 'Booze It & Lose It' campaign will enforce increased patrolling and sobriety checkpoints from October 27 to November 2 to catch impaired drivers — officials noted 588 DWI arrests occurred last year and urge drivers to secure a designated sober ride.  WITN

  • The Historical Society is hosting its 35th Ghostwalk—a guided tour of haunted sites that shares local ghost stories and highlights Greenville’s historic past.  WITN

  • Greenville residents are seeing higher candy prices as full-size bars now cost around 90 cents rather than 82 cents last year — a result of rising cocoa costs from damaged crops. HEALTH NEWS

  • John Ward filed a lawsuit Tuesday in Pitt County alleging that Florida ketamine provider Mindbloom caused his son Phillip Ward's death on October 29th from ketamine toxicity with hypertension — while the company’s CEO stated that they provided high-quality clinical care backed by research. The suit contends that Phillip missed critical safety measures due to his depression and other health issues, details that Mindbloom disputes.  WITN

SPORTS NEWS

  • Trey Yesavage started in Game 1 of the World Series Friday night—he pitched four innings and struck out five Dodgers as his team won 11-4. The rookie, drafted 20th overall from ECU in 2024, will rest his arm before facing Los Angeles Saturday.  WITN
