- ➤ Sylvan Heights Bird Park will host its Trick-or-Tweet event on October 31 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.—costumed characters will hand out candy and visitors can enjoy Halloween-themed science activities while entry is $3 per trick-or-treater or two non-perishable food items help support the park’s annual food drive—animals and birds will be available for close encounters. - ➤ Pitt County 4-H is accepting pre-orders for fresh, handmade holiday wreaths grown in North Carolina that help fund local youth programs until November 17; orders can be picked up December 2—5 at the N.C. Cooperative Extension in Greenville. Pitt County

- ➤ Judco Manufacturing, a family-owned automotive supplier with over 50 years in business, will move its headquarters and R&D operations to a new 50,000-square-foot facility in Snow Hill—an investment of more than $5 million that will create 60 new jobs. Public Radio East

- ➤ Matthew Ryan Joyner, an ECU electrical engineering senior from Plymouth and a cancer survivor, says his goal is to help people with his work. He plans to launch MingleMaps—a dating app that promotes face-to-face meetings—in January and has accepted a SMART award that guarantees future DoD employment at an air base. East Carolina University
- ➤ Pitt County Schools announced the Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year for 2026 today. Dr. Michael Casey of Ayden Elementary and Mandy Rogister of Chicod School were recognized for their strong leadership—each bringing years of experience to the district. WITN

- ➤ North Carolina’s Medical Debt Relief Program erased over $6.5 billion in medical debt—helping more than 2.5 million people gain relief in its first year. Governor Josh Stein said the program lifts a heavy burden on families and urged the General Assembly to fully fund Medicaid—aiming to improve access to needed care. Public Radio East
