- ➤ ECU explained that the library hotspot borrowing program was suspended due to a change in mobile service providers+ not because of funding cuts as reported on Facebook. Patrons who return the hotspots will be placed on a wait-list until the service resumes, with no timeline set. WITN
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ An ambulance and an SUV crashed on Arlington Boulevard—Stantonsburg Road at 4:30 p.m. today near ECU Health Medical Center, causing traffic delays while officials reported no injuries and the intersection has reopened. WITN
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Community members in Greenville stressed that addressing gun violence—by engaging affected neighborhoods—is needed to prevent incidents after a shooting killed three people. The Daily Reflector
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ K9 teams — including one from Greenville and one from Jacksonville — joined efforts in Kerr County to search 165 miles of the Guadalupe River for missing people after deadly flooding in Texas; they began work yesterday and will continue for at least 7 days — with the possibility of extension — to bring closure to affected families. - ➤ Crews fixed a second water main break on West Third Street late Tuesday morning—only a foot from the one replaced Saturday that caused a sinkhole—but the road remained closed. WITN
- ➤ Today, GUC crews repaired a water main along East Third Street—about a half-dollar-sized spot of corrosion was found near a sinkhole that had formed nearby. The pipe leak forced a second closure of the street and temporarily disrupted local traffic. The Daily Reflector
- ➤ Greenville drivers now face a blocked intersection at Reade Circle + Evans Street as the Dickinson Avenue resurfacing and utilities project expands. The road closure will last 60 days + drivers are advised to follow detour signs. WNCT

- ➤ Pitt County health officials reported West Nile virus is now in the area during mosquito season and most people will have no or mild symptoms while about 10% may get serious; the county and state are spraying a two-mile radius with adulticide+ they advise residents to use repellent and wear long clothing during dusk and dawn. - ➤ Health officials warn that heat exhaustion may lead to life-threatening heatstroke if signs like dizziness, fatigue, or nausea are not treated — people are urged to seek a cool place, hydrate, and rest immediately. Carteret County Nursing Director Kim Davis says heatstroke is a medical emergency that requires urgent care — and hospitals are preparing to treat severe cases. WITN
