- ➤ A Greenville woman was charged with impaired driving after failing to stop for a deputy — court documents state she drove at 90 mph. The Daily Reflector

- ➤ More than a dozen kids attended a STEM camp at Ridgewood Elementary in Pitt County last week—founded by J.H. Rose students Saanvi and Anya Kumar to teach hands-on lessons in science, technology, math, and engineering. They worked on projects like making a terrarium and coding in Python in the new Young Innovation Lab. WITN
- ➤ Starting in the fall, Pitt Community College will opt out of the federal student loan program amid national concerns over student debt—about 1,000 students had relied on the program and the college will now enhance its focus on scholarships, grants, and work-study. WITN
- ➤ Fourteen local nursing students received a total of $63,000 in scholarships from the CarolinaEast Foundation at the Joseph Hageman Nursing Scholarship Dinner held on June 11 at the Flame Catering and Banquet Center—award amounts varied for students pursuing bachelor, associate, and practical nursing programs. - ➤ The Pitt County Planning Board voted to recommend that 3,319 acres in northern Pitt County be rezoned from rural agricultural and rural residential to support a mega industrial site + the decision may lead to significant development in the area. The Daily Reflector
- ➤ The Pitt County Board of Commissioners approved $75,000 for an affordable housing project in Greenville—money that will support new units planned for construction soon. The Daily Reflector
- ➤ Greenville Utilities Commission officials say two new LNG cryogenic tanks will be offloaded from a train near Gum Road this weekend for the LNG plant expansion. The first tank will be moved today along U.S. Highway 264 at about 3 mph toward the plant while the second is set for transportation tomorrow, and lanes on Gum Road, N.C. Highways 11 and 33, Old Pactolus Road, and Greenville Blvd + U.S. Highway 264 will be closed for rerouting. WNCT
