- ➤ Foster parents and social workers in Greenville stress the need for stronger support during Foster Care Awareness Month as the NC Chapel Hill Jordan Institute for Families reported 11,000 children in foster care as of January. Pitt County DSS has introduced a new Permanency Planning approach to help reunify children with their families — efforts that include financial help for kinship caregivers and community backing for local foster homes. - ➤ Cyclists are invited to join Greenville’s annual Ride of Silence today at 6:30 p.m. at Greenville Bicycle Company, 802 Clark Street, where a twelve-mile ride escorted by police will honor those killed or injured while riding a bike + all participants must wear a helmet and are encouraged to use lights. - ➤ Jaiquez Ebron, 21, a Greenville man, was arrested this evening in Memphis by the Memphis PD & FBI for his connection to a Feb. 1 homicide on Colonial Ave that left Traeon Vontrez Williams, 24, dead at the scene. WNCT
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Joyner Library is featuring a World War II exhibit in honor of Memorial Day that shows over 100 items from 60 collections and was planned by archivists since fall 2023—its name is 'In Their Footsteps: Exploring World War II Through Archival Records'—to mark the 80th anniversary of the war's end and America's 250th birthday. The exhibit is open during library hours for visitors to learn more about this important part of our history. WNCT
