- ➤ The local economic development group announced its new name on Mar. 5 — a change intended to better reflect its mission to strengthen community growth and attract local investment. City leaders said the rebrand will support ongoing efforts to boost the local economy. WITN

- ➤ ECU hosted its inaugural manufacturing career fair Thursday at campus where more than 30 Eastern North Carolina companies met with students to explore job and internship opportunities. The College of Business and Engineering and Technology organized the event to build a local talent pipeline, and employers gave enthusiastic feedback. WITN
- ➤ Chancellor Emeritus Steve Ballard shared leadership lessons at the 10th annual Ballard’s Annual Lessons on Leadership event on March 3 at the Main Campus Student Center ballrooms. - ➤ Recent rains have eased the drought in parts of east central NC after a dry spell, and additional showers will fall on Sunday and next Thursday as moderate drought persists (some areas remain 6-8 inches behind). WITN

- ➤ Greenville Utilities Commission staff is recommending that utility rates will increase by an average of $10.19 per month for electric, water, sewer and gas in the proposed fiscal year 2026-27 budget (final review pending). The Daily Reflector

- ➤ ECU Health agreed to sell its home health and hospice unit to preserve long-term access to end-of-life care (according to leadership) in the Greenville area. The decision marks a key shift in local health services. The Daily Reflector
- ➤ Rocking Horse Ranch Therapeutic Riding Center in Pitt County has served Eastern Carolina since 1991 and now aids 38 individuals with developmental disabilities each week by teaching horseback riding, grooming, and groundwork skills to improve balance, focus, and emotional regulation (and develop life skills). - ➤ Maynard Children's Hospital held its annual Jell-O toss today during Child Life Month, giving patients a chance to toss the treat at volunteer staff to relieve stress and bond. The event celebrates the work of child life specialists (using a colorful twist on fun) in a warm, outdoor setting. WITN
